Dr. Afarin Rajaei is a highly experienced Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), professor, co-founder of the Relationship Institute, and author with a deep passion for helping individuals and couples navigate life’s complexities. She holds a Ph.D. in Medical Family Therapy and is a Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
As a professor, Dr. Rajaei brings her extensive knowledge and real-world experience to her students, fostering the next generation of therapists and mental health professionals. With over a decade of clinical practice, she has worked nationally and internationally, specializing in couple therapy, particularly with couples facing life-altering challenges such as illness, including cancer. Her work emphasizes emotional resilience, self-compassion, and purposeful action, supporting couples and families through some of life's most difficult transitions.
Dr. Rajaei is also an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Systemic Therapy and an accomplished presenter, offering insights on topics like microfeminism in psychotherapy and relationship dynamics after transitioning to parenthood.
She has published her latest book, Embracing Life’s Triangle: Validate, Accept, and Move Forward, which provides practical strategies for embracing life’s challenges with acceptance and resilience. As co-founder of the Relationship Institute, she combines academic rigor and clinical expertise to foster deeper understanding and connections within relationships.
